Waterboy Club

Amsterdam c. 2019–2024 Own Practice

Waterboy Club was an independent, multi-disciplinary warehouse studio and community space at Karperweg 43A in Amsterdam, built around one goal: “building a community space for creatives in Amsterdam.” Over roughly five years the space grew from an old urban warehouse into a stepping stone for emerging talent, hosting more than a hundred Amsterdam-based artists.

The space stayed deliberately fluid, reshaping itself for whatever the scene needed: DIY concerts; collaborative gallery shows and film screenings; hands-on workshops in carpet tufting, tie-dye and graphic design; genre-mixing event formats; and a working film set for local directors shooting in its industrial interior.

Facing government pressure to vacate a site slated for housing development, Waterboy Club closed with one last community party on 24 February 2024; the warehouse was demolished the following month.
